Archives of the History of American Psychology provides information on the University of Akron's archive of print/media/realia materials from 740 psychologists and 50 organizations, materials including personal papers, manuscripts, films, audio and video tapes, instruments, test materials, books, photographs, and other materials.

Basic Neural Processes Tutorial This tutorial provides the user with an interactive learning experience. Activities include an on-line quiz on neural anatomy, pictorial tours of the brain, and a glossary of terms related to biological psychology.
Neuropsychology Central is a meta-source devoted to human neuropsychology, the science of brain and behavior.
Psych Scholarly Resources on the Web In addition to providing links to other neuroscience sites on the Internet, this site provides access to a number of archives containing MRI and PET images of the brain.

Sensation and Perception Tutorials These tutorials, by the author of the Basic Neural Processes Tutorial (see Psychology on the Internet, Chapter2), covers some basic concepts in sensation and perception and includes an introduction to how neurons in the visual cortex process incoming spatial information.
Digital Library Exploratorium Exhibits Several impressive demonstrations of visual phenomena can be found here. In addition to allowing the users to participate in the demonstrations on-line, this home page provides brief explanations of the phenomena. One of the demonstrations that works particularly well is that of color after images.

Sensation and Perception Tutorials These tutorials, by the author of the Basic Neural Processes tutorial (see Psychology on the Internet, Chapter 2), covers some basic concepts in sensation and perception and includes an in-depth explanation of the concept of "Receptive Fields."
Selected Projects in Cognitive Science At this University of California-Irvine site you can look at the results of several experiments dealing with visual and auditory perception and experience the stimuli used in these experiments. These experiments cover topics such as the factors affecting recognition of novel objects and the use of color in visual search. Background information about the problems being studied and explanations of the results are provided.

PSYCHE: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Research on Consciousness is a refereed electronic journal dedicated to supporting the interdisciplinary exploration of the nature of consciousness and its relation to the brain. PSYCHE publishes material relevant to that exploration from the perspectives afforded by the disciplines of cognitive science, philosophy, psychology, physics, neuroscience, artificial intelligence and anthropology. The Emergence of Intelligence This Scientific American article by William H. Calvin discusses the relationship between language, problem solving, planning skills, and intelligence. In addition to this article, this site contains links to several on-line books and articles dealing with intelligence, language, and evolution.

21st Century Problem Solving, This site (maintained by Howard C. McAllister) is "dedicated to the promotion of problem solving literacy." It presents strategies for solving math and physics problems, provides a good overview-with hypertext links to references for the cited materials-of the cognitive research on problem solving and includes an interesting discussion of the role problem solving plays in the learning process.

The Personality Project This site is "meant to guide those interested in personality theory and research to the current research literature." In doing so, it provides an excellent resource for learning more about the trait approach to personality theory. The Personality Project contains extensive links to journals (including on-line journals and links to tables of contents) that publish "theory and research articles about personality." This site also provides a comprehensive list of readings on personality theory and assessment-including an on-line version of Personality Processess, a review chapter prepared for the Annual Review of Psychology, 1995. Internet Mental Health Of all the topics covered by Psychology on the Internet, psychopathology probably has the most Internet sites focusing on relevant information. There are numerous home pages and newsgroups devoted to general topics (mental health, psychopharmacology, and psychiatric/psychological resources) and specific disorders (e.g., anorexia nervosa, schizophrenia, and anxiety disorders). Access to a majority of these sites is organized in a free on-line encyclopedia of mental health-the Internet Mental Health home page.
Designed by a Canadian psychiatrist, Dr. Phillip Long, the Internet Mental Health home page is one of the most comprehensive on-line references on any topic in psychology. Internet Mental Health provides extensive diagnostic, treatment, and research information on the 50 most commonly diagnosed mental disorders. This site also contains an on-line magazine filled with articles, booklets, book reviews, newsletters, and stories of recovery. Finally, this site provides links to on-line journals relevant to mental health and links to other mental health sites-including organizations and institutions dedicated to mental health issues, university department of psychology and psychiatry, and sites concerned with specific disorders (e.g., dementia, mood disorders, and schizophrenia).
