How to Guides - Configure E-mail Program on Personal Computer

There are a number of programs available for retrieving and reading your e-mail. A popular choice on campus is MS Outlook. Most programs include a "wizard" that steps you through the process of setting up your e-mail account. You will be required to supply certain information including:

  • your username: first initial, middle initial (or repeat of first initial if no middle initial), up to six letters of last name
  • your e-mail address: username@owu.edu
  • your e-mail password
  • type of e-mail server: POP
  • name of incoming mail server: cc.owu.edu
  • name of outgoing mail server: cc.owu.edu **(This assumes you are on campus.)

Here are detailed instructions for setting up Outlook including using the smtp server if you will be connecting off-campus.
