Citing Sources
Plagiarism and proper citation of sources are discussed. This course follows the citation style used by the Geological Society of America, the Chicago Manual of Style, 14th ed. Citation examples are given for a wide variety of sources.
Citing Maps
This guide gives instructions and examples for citing maps from both digital and print sources.
Guidelines for Oral Presentations
This guide describes the process of preparing and delivering oral presentations. Guidelines for preparing visual aids and handouts are included. The role of the audience is also discussed.
Checklist for Evaluating Web Pages
Use this checklist to evaluate web pages. Issues of accuracy, authority, objectivity, currency, and coverage are important when determining the usefulness of an information source.
Course Syllabus
Geology 310 meets 3 times per week for one hour during the semester. The laboratory session for this course meets 1 time per week for three hours during the semester. The Information Literacy aspects of this course are included in the laboratory sessions.
