Pollution Abstracts is a leading resource for references to environmentally related literature on pollution, its sources, and its control. The following subjects are covered by the Pollution Abstracts database: air pollution, environmental quality, noise pollution, pesticides, radiation, solid wastes, and water pollution. Earth Island Institute
Earth Island Institute "develops and supports projects that counteract threats to the biological and cultural diversity that sustain the environment." More than 30 worldwide projects are supported. EII also publishes Earth Island Journal, accessible through this site.

EnviroLink
EnviroLink is nonprofit, volunteer organization. The site catalogs trade, government and scholarly information sources on all areas of environmental concern. Areas of the site of special interest to students include "General Information", "Government", "Organizations", and "Publications". These areas can also be accessed through their "EnviroLink Library." Navigation is straightforward, with consistent subject headings throughout.

Environmental Contaminants Encyclopedia
Provides information on the environmental toxicology of 118 chemicals which impact fish, wildlife, invertebrates, and other non-human living resources. This resource was compiled by staff at the Water Resources Division of the National Park Service.

Environmental Sites on the Internet
Maintained by the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, this site provides a comprehensive array of environmental science information. The Contents provides a frame index that gives direct access to information by subject category. It can also be accessed by a keyword search engine.

Found in the table on left border of this home page are links to over 7,000 EPA publications and information resources.  The links Browse EPA Topics, Information Sources, and Search are especially useful.

EPA and Bird Conservation

Produced by United Nations Environment Programme. Each issue covers a different topic of international sustainable development. Topics are listed for easy access.

Sustainable Development Gateway
Sponsored by eight international sustainable development institutes. Provides a resource for learning about world issues, policies, and practices. The frames index provides a useful access tool, especially the Index by Concept, the SD Primer, and the Primer section "Danger Signs".

Summary of Environmental Law In North America
The Commission of Environmental Cooperation created this site to provide access to the environmental legislation of Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

The Evolution of the Conservation Movement, 1850-1920
This archival collection of digitized books, pamphlets, government documents, manuscripts, prints, photographs, and motion picture footage is part of the Library of Congress' American Memory project.  Some documents require "Docuview", a browser plug-in.  Downloading instructions are available on the site.  The collection is accessed through a keyword search engine or through browsable indexes of subjects or authors.

World Resources Institute
World Resources Institute provides reliable and comprehensive data on a broad array of environmental, economic and social  issues.  Country data profiles provide specific environmental information for individual countries.

World Conservation Monitoring Centre
Non-profit center providing information services on conservation and sustainable use of the world's living resources. Established by three international organizations: The World Conservation Union, the World Wide Fund for Nature, and the United Nations Environment Programme. Information and profiles are easily obtained by specific country or region through the use of easy-to-use pull-down indexes and links.
